Project Summary

TAP were employed to design a cooling solution for the library building to counteract the excessive internal heat gains/temperatures encountered due to the high density of occupation and equipment. The project consisted of the following:

  • The retro-fitting of a new comfort cooling system comprising chilled water cassette units and associated pipework distribution.
  • Energy efficient variable flow strategy utilising pressure independent control valves.
  • External packaged plant room and air cooled chiller enclosure.
  • New power distribution system for mechanical services plant.
  • Adaptions to existing ventilation AHU to incorporate cooling coil.
  • CFD simulation to assess performance of comfort cooling system.
